Twincident May Update - Sunshine and Jiu Jitsu!
Updated: Nov 9, 2022
It’s been an amazing few weeks, the twins are growing into increasingly chatty (and heavy!) little people 😍😯.
One of the things I love about working on the site is looking back through all the photos and videos we have, I found this one and couldn't resist putting it up, it's guaranteed to make you smile.
Additions to the site:
9 Really Useful Bits of Kit - things that we found really useful or didn’t even know we needed!
Why are they throwing EVEYTHING?! (aka Play Schemas) - “learning modes” the twins go into from time to time, and how to work with them.
Month in a minute
Months 5, 6 and a bonus video are now up!
I’m also offering coaching to those who want to find balance, confidence and calm to help them be the best parent they can be.
What's been going well?
New words are coming almost daily, especially the ones they really want to learn, like “more” and “nana” 🍌, typically combined! They have also started singing nursery rhymes back to us in broken baby speak which is just 🥰
A single adult can just about get them down to bed!!! It started scrappy but crucially the twins fall asleep without us in the room, which gives us a little time back but also means they are getting to sleep independently. I’ll write up how we went about this soon.
The weather has been amazing and we have been outside in bare feet with lots of running around, moving things around and sweeping!
The twins have started playing purposefully together, it's super cute and we can see how it’s helping them develop.
What’s been hard and what would we have done differently?
We are approaching the terrible 2’s and seeing a lot of boundary testing happening, which can be a real patience tester. TG especially likes to hold eye contact and smile at you as she slowly wriggles out of her high chair and stands up on the tray…I am writing an article about controlling reactions!
We have all been sick again. Since November I would say we have been sick 60 - 70% of the time 😭It’s especially exhausting as it often triggers a sleep regression. We are coming out the other side now, and I certainly felt more confidence during this last bout that we would get back to normal quickly once everyone was better - I’ll let you know how that goes!
TB continues to occasionally try his Jiu Jitsu out on TG, while ti can be impressive, it's not ideal.
Hope you enjoyed the update and the Spring!
Ranj and family.
